I completed Fred Whitton challenge for the first and almost certainly the last time this year. It was all very hard, but Hardknott Pass is just stupidly hard. I had to walk up a 30% ramp which really annoyed me, so this picture is of me trying to clip back in on the following 20% ramp to be on my way, too stubborn just to walk the rest of the climb. This guy saw me struggling to get clipped in on the incline, and came to my aid – getting me balanced, clipped in and then a little push. It’s burned into my memory, so that fact that the official photographer captured my struggle was amazing.
